Oleg Levchenko has passed away

With deep sorrow, we announce the untimely death of Oleg Levchenko (13.09.1964 - 11.05.2024), one of the pioneers of the Ukrainian Internet and the director of the .UA domain registry "Hostmaster Ltd".

Oleg Levchenko's name is forever inscribed in the history of the development of the Internet in Ukraine. He was one of the first internet providers in Odessa: he worked at "Intergate," "Vista," and "Paco Links International," and administered the public domains odessa.ua, odesa.ua, and od.ua.

In 2013, Oleg Levchenko took over "Hostmaster Ltd" and helped the company reach a new level of quality. Oleg fostered cooperation with international colleagues and partners, and in 2015, he played a key role in preparing and signing an agreement with ICANN.

He was the driving force behind hosting international conferences in Ukraine with ICANN and RIPE NCC, and he initiated the invitation of foreign experts to train state officials and engineers in cybersecurity. Thanks to the efforts of the team he led, the .UA domain continued to operate smoothly even during the toughest times of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Unfortunately, Oleg Levchenko's life was tragically cut short - his heart stopped, but he will forever remain in our hearts. We will remember Oleg as a reliable and steady leader, a visionary with strategic thinking, who tirelessly worked to develop the Ukrainian internet landscape.
